Scallop season has begun on the west coast of Florida, and there is no better way to spend a day underwater. Scalloping is easy and fun for the whole family. On average, you will be snorkeling in about 4 to 6 feet of water. Look for sea grass patches and sandy edges along the grass to find your treasure. Scalloping equipment is simple, too. All you need is a mask, snorkel, fins, scallop bag and a fishing license. Be sure to fly your diver down flag when you have swimmers in the water and remember you are allowed two gallons per person, or a total limit of 10 gallons per vessel.
